Atlanta police say the rapper Slim Dunkin was gunned down Friday evening during a town music studio as he was making ready to record a video.

Police Maj. Keith Meadows said the rapper, whose real name is Mario Hamilton, was fatally shot within the chest when getting in an argument with another individual.

He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Meadows told The Associated Press late Friday that police haven't been able to establish the shooter. He said investigators are interviewing those that were within the studio. He said as several as twenty folks were within the tiny office-type building at the time of the shooting, that transpire around 5:30 p.m., however they were in numerous places.

Police haven't recovered the handgun that was used. Investigators remained at the scene late Friday evening.

"Right currently we're simply attempting to....identify who could have seen what, extremely simply attempting to place the items of the puzzle along," Meadows said. "It looks everyone witnessed one thing terribly completely different. We're simply attempting to travel back and create sense of everything."

Slim Dunkin had appeared on variety of songs with the rapper Waka Flocka Flame. the web site Mtv.com reported that the Brick Squad Monopoly rapper was on a solo track and had recently released a 20-track combine tape that featured Gucci Mane, Roscoe Dash and Pastor Troy.

"It seems the victim was scheduled to try and do a photograph shoot," Meadows said of Friday's events. "Before the video shoot transpire, it seems the victim and suspect got concerned during a verbal altercation. we do not apprehend what that altercation was concerning."

"The suspect made a weapon, discharged that handgun only once, placing the victim within the chest," Meadows said.

Meadows said the victim was in his early 20s and resided within the Atlanta space.

Many fans were posting messages late Friday night on a Facebook page for the rapper.

The website AllHipHop.com last February described Slim Dunkin, a Detroit native, as an up-and-coming talent with "a distinctive lyrical ability and magnificence all his own."

In an interview with the web site, he described himself as somebody "trying to produce for his family by creating one thing out of nothing simply attempting to beat the percentages."

"I do not have wonderful lyrical ability I simply savvy to talk on what I been through and where I came from," he said.

Asked what to expect from him in 2011, he responded: "Music, music, music!

Drake – Take Care Lyrics

[Rihanna]
Know you’ve been hurt by someone else
I can tell by the way you carry yourself
If you let me, here’s what I’ll do
I’ll take care of you
I’ve loved and I’ve lost
[Drake: Verse 1]
I’ve asked about you and they’ve told me things
But my mind didn’t change
I still the feel the same
A life with no fun, please don’t be so ashamed
I’ve had mine, you’ve had yours we both know
We know, they don’t get you like I will
My only wish is I die real
Cause that truth hurts, and those lies heal
And you can’t sleep thinking that he lies still
So you cry still, tears all in the pillow case
Big girls all get a little taste
Pushing me away so I give her space
Feeling with a heart that I didn’t break
I’ll be there for you, I will care for you
I keep thanking you, just don’t know
Try to run from that, say you’re done with that
On your face girl, it just don’t show
When you’re ready, just say you’re ready
When all the baggage just ain’t as heavy
And the parties over, just don’t forget me
We’ll change the pace and just go slow
Won’t ever have to worry,
You won’t ever have to hide
If you seen all my mistakes
So look me in my eyes
[Rihanna]
Cause if you let me, here’s what I’ll do
I’ll take care of you
I’ve loved and I’ve lost
[Drake: Verse 2]
It’s my birthday, I get high if I want to
Can’t deny that I want to, but I lie if have to
Cause you don’t say you love me
To your friend when they ask you
Even though we both know that you do (you do)
One time, been in love one time
You and all your girls in the club one time
All so convinced that you’re following your heart
Cause your mind don’t control what it does sometimes
We all have our nights though, don’t be so ashamed
I’ve had mine, you’ve had yours, we both know
We know, You hate being alone
You ain’t the only one
You hate the fact that you bought the dream
And they sold you one
You love your friends but somebody shoulda told you somin’ to save you
[Rihanna]
Know you’ve been hurt by someone else
I can tell by the way you carry yourself
If you let me, here’s what I’ll do
I’ll take care of you
I’ve loved and I’ve lost

hines-ward-mirrorball-trophy.jpg After 10 weeks of dominating the dance floor, Hines Ward and partner Kym Johnson took home the esteemed title of "Dancing With the Stars" champions for Season 12.

Zap2it was on the ballroom floor right after Hines and Kym got the news at the end of the two-hour finale, and he made it very clear to the press that he didn't go into the finale assuming anything.

"I looked over and I saw Kirstie [Alley]," Hines says of the final moments, after Chelsea Kane had already been eliminated. "I thought, oh jeez, everybody loves Kirstie. But it comes down to voting... It was the fans."

Hines appreciates the fans, though not as much as he does his partner. And she'll be getting a fitting tribute in the fall when Hines resumes his full-time job as wide receiver for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

"I'm doing a tribute to Kym every time I score a touchdown," he says. "You will see a 'Dancing With the Stars' routine somewhere in the end zone."

Won't that draw jokes from his teammates? "Now that I brought back this trophy, they can't say anything."

As for where the glittery prize is heading, Hines says he plans to put it right next to the Super Bowl MVP trophy in his house.

Epiphone Les Paul Plustop PRO FX

The Les Paul PlusTop PRO/FX is a one of the most recent guitars from Epiphone and is basically the budget version of the Gibson Les Paul Axcess. This will be a welcome sight for many budget conscious guitarists considering the price tag of the Gibson Les Paul Axcess (currently around $2500 / $5000 USD according to the Gibson website). The Epiphone comes in at a fifth of the price looks every bit as impressive on stage.

The Epiphone Les Paul Plustop PRO/FX combines a lot of the great features of a Les Paul and adds a double-locking Floyd Rose Special™ vibrato system and coil-tapping with gives it a really nice combination of crunch tones and versatility. You could probably get away with playing any style of music on this guitar other than country where some double string bends might be tricky with a Floyd Rose.

Close up of the Floyd Rose Special Tremelo System

The Floyd Rose Special™ vibrato system allows you to pitch bend up to 2.5-3 semitones due to the cuteaway beneath the trem unit which is really impressive. It's basically the same as the licensed Floyd Rose tremelo system just with slightly cheaper parts. Interestingly since the guitars' debut at Musicmesse there has been some bad press online regarding the Floyd Rose tremelo and how it doesn't stay in tune however this is most likely a result of some of the guitars being badly setup at the factory.

Our advice is to support your local Epiphone dealer and actually get out there and try the guitar before you buy. Any local dealer worth his salt will have set the guitar up properly and you can easily review the guitar for your self. If your not convinced then check out this video from Andertons Music in the UK. They just couldn't get the Les Paul PlusTop PRO/FX out of tune despite some monsterous whammy bar abuse!

The guitar is available in some classic finishes including Desertburst, Honeyburst, Heritage Cherry Sunburst, or Vintage Sunburst finish. The neck is also highly playable and features a superfast SlimTaper™ "D" profile. The back of the neck is finished in satin making it even faster.

In terms of pickups, you have an Epiphone Alnico Classic™ Humbucker in the neck position and an Epiphone Alnico Classic Plus™ Humbucker in the bridge position. This is perhaps one area that could be improved on as the bridge pickup in particular is a little muddy. Of course given the price of the guitar, a couple of Seymour Duncans or EMG's wouldn't be out of the question for most guitarists and would make the guitar really sing.

Having said that the coil tapping feature is a great addition and allows you to get some great twang like sounds out of the guitar. This adds plenty of flexibility and means the guitar has much more potential outside of playing classic rock and metal.

Specification:

  • Body Material: Mahogany
  • Top Material: Flame Maple
  • Neck Material: Mahogany
  • Neck Shape: Options 1960's SlimTaper™; D profile
  • Neck Joint: Glued-In
  • Truss Rod: Adjustable
  • Scale Length: 24.75"
  • Fingerboard Material: Rosewood with mother-of-pearl Trapezoid inlays
  • Neck Pickup: Epiphone Alnico Classic™ Humbucker (4-wire)
  • Bridge Pickup: Epiphone Alnico Classic Plus™ Humbucker (4-wire)
  • Controls:
    • 3-way Pickup Selector
    • Neck Pickup Volume with push/pull coil-tapping
    • Bridge Pickup Volume with push/pull coil-tapping
    • Neck Pickup Tone
    • Bridge Pickup Tone
  • Binding:
    • Fingerboard - 1 ply (cream)
    • Body - 1 ply (cream)
  • Fingerboard: Radius 14"
  • Frets: 22; medium-jumbo
  • Bridge: Floyd Rose Special™ Tremolo with locking R4 nut
  • Nut Width: 1-11/16" (R4 nut)
  • Hardware: Nickel
  • Machine Heads: Grover™; 14:1 ratio
  • Finish: Gloss

Guideline Price: £499 UK / $1100 USD

Fretpoint Verdict

At this price it's hard to say anything bad about the PlusTop PRO/FX. Our advice would be to make sure you try the guitar out at a local dealer, make sure the guitar is setup correctly (otherwise you may have tuning issues) and if you are serious about tone think about installing some quality pickups.

HBO did not go small in making "Game of Thrones," its first series in the fantasy genre.

For starters, there's the source material: "A Game of Thrones," a 700-plus-page novel by George R.R. Martin that's the shortest in his "A Song of Ice and Fire" series. Production on the show's 10 episodes ran for seven months in Northern Ireland and Malta. There are 17 actors listed in the opening credits, and at least that many more have good-sized roles in the series. The marketing has been nearly ubiquitous in recent weeks.

So does it all add up to something you'll want to watch when it premieres at 9 p.m. ET Sunday (April 17)? In two words: Hell yes. "Game of Thrones" is a grown-up fantasy tale that is less about magic and mysticism than it is about power, political gamesmanship and the consequences of both. It's stunningly rendered and very well-acted, and though the first few episodes have a tendency toward telling rather than showing, the pace rarely feels slack.

Caveat time: I wasn't familiar with Martin's work prior to the series. I started reading "A Game of Thrones" before watching, then stopped after I saw the first two episodes -- not out of lack of interest (quite the contrary), but because I found myself tracking how faithful the TV series was to the novel (quite faithful, for as far as I read) rather than really paying attention to what was on screen. I wanted to evaluate the series as its own work.

As adapted by executive producers David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, "Game of Thrones" follows the numerous power-hungry and amoral figures (along with a few decent ones) surrounding the Iron Throne, the seat of power in Westeros. It's currently occupied by King Robert Baratheon (a lusty Mark Addy), who took power in a rebellion some years before in which the previous king was killed by Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau), who happens to be the twin brother of Robert's wife, Queen Cersei (Lena Headey).

As the series opens, Robert travels to the remote northern citadel of Winterfell to ask his hold friend Eddard "Ned" Stark (Sean Bean) to be the Hand of the King -- his closest adviser. Robert doesn't really trust anyone else at the court, and with good reason; his wife is already looking forward to the day when their son Joffrey (Jack Gleeson) takes the throne, others around him -- notably Petyr Baelish, also known as Littlefinger ("The Wire's" Aidan Gillen) -- have their own agendas, and, well, Jaime killed the last king.

Ned is more than a little reluctant to leave his home; he fought alongside Robert in the rebellion but would rather leave the power struggles to others. Duty-bound, though, he accepts and travels to the capital city, King's Landing, with daughters Sansa (Sophie Turner) and Arya (Maisie Williams, who's wonderfully feisty) while his wife, Catelyn (Michelle Fairley) and sons Robb (Richard Madden) and Bran (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) stay at Winterfell.

That's the primary story, but the show also spends significant time in two other locales. Ned's illegitimate son, Jon Snow (Kit Harrington) leaves to join the forsaken men who guard the Wall, a massive, miles-long barrier separating the north of Westeros from a frozen wilderness beyond that's home to "wildlings" (barbaric men) and, as seen in the opening scenes of the premiere, maybe something more sinister. He's accompanied on the early part of his journey by Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage), the dwarf brother of Cersei and Jaime, who's an outcast in his own way but also possibly the smartest (and definitely the funniest) character in the series.

game-of-thrones-review2.jpgAcross the sea, Viserys Targaryen (Harry Lloyd), the exiled son of the murdered previous king, is scheming to reclaim the throne via his sister Daenerys (Emilia Clarke), whom he marries off to a warlord, Khal Drogo (Jason Momoa), in exchange for the promise of an army to take back to Westeros. Clarke, in her first major role, creates one of the most compelling arcs in "Game of Thrones" as Daenerys grows from a scared and lonely girl to a young woman who's becoming increasingly aware of and confident in her own strength.

Got all that?

It's a lot to absorb, and people who come to the show without knowledge of Martin's books will probably feel a bit lost in the first couple episodes. (In this aspect, "Game of Thrones" has a lot in common with previous HBO shows "The Wire" and "Deadwood.") The first couple episodes also have the characters delivering a lot of expository dialogue, which is a necessary evil in almost any show but here sometimes tips the talk-vs.-action scale in the wrong direction.

As the characters' motives and allegiances become clearer, though, "Game of Thrones" develops into what's often gripping television. Bean's "reluctant gunslinger" (as exec producer Weiss describes him), Dinklage's charming schemer, Clarke's growing force and several more performances -- including almost uniformly good work from the child actors in the cast -- ground the show's story firmly in reality. The show's production team also does a fantastic job at creating the world of Westeros, with location shooting enhanced greatly by excellent visual effects work.

"Game of Thrones" drops you into a fully realized world, and once you get your bearings, you'll want to stay there.

Here's a clip from Sunday's premiere, in which Daenerys meets Khal Drogo for the first time.

Helen Mirren continued her comedy-crazy week with a hilarious interview on Late Night Thursday that climaxed with the unexpected, host-embarrassing moment pictured above. The Queen star explained to Jimmy Fallon that, while her recent Hollywood Walk Of Fame ceremony was one of the “greatest honors” of her life (“[I almost] pulled a ‘Gwynnie’…which is sobbing…crying while giving an acceptance speech”), it was a little different from earlier triumphs. “I win the Oscar. I’m standing on the stage in front of all these Hollywood stars holding my Oscar in my hand and they’re all applauding and it’s this incredible dream come true,” she said. “And now I have my hands and feet down on Hollywood Boulevard and it’ll be there forever and this is what you have to do….” Boom! Dame Mirren on all fours, Jimmy left blushing. Between this, the When Harry Met Sally 2 trailer and her dancing promos with Fred Armisen, there’s no doubt she’ll kick ass hosting SNL tomorrow night.

See photos of Helen on all fours for Fallen—and Grauman’s Chinese Theatre—in the gallery below. And just to confirm, “pulling a Gwynnie” is a reference to Gwyneth Paltrow’s bawling Oscar speech. Catty!

t’s time to shake things up a little for the 8th season of American Idol – and in a good way. First, the show is going to focus more on the Hollywood round (adding a second week), plus you can expect 36 semi-finalists and the return of the wild-cards!

Idol also gets a new judge with Kara DioGuardi to balance out Paula Abdul’s craziness and potentially less of those dreadful American Idol wannabe auditions by including an extra Hollywood week.

36 hopefuls will be selected for the semi-finals and we’ll see the wild-card pics make a comeback from season 3 – giving three singers a second chance at the finals.

Watch Iggy Pop on American Idol in this “Real Wild Child” video clip… how old is Iggy Pop anyway?

Iggy Pop, still shirtless after all these years, will be 64 on April 21!

What did you think of Iggy Pop’s American Idol performance? Too wild for the Idol audience (and Jennifer Lopez, who didn’t seem to be diggin on Iggy too much)?

Ryan Seacrest introduced Iggy Pop by saying, “I don’t know if you’re ready for this.”

Wild for sure… a random musical guest for the American Idol viewers, perhaps… but I liked it 100% better than Constantine Maroulis’ performance!

Okay, we get it, you're getting married and you're going to be the most countrified couple since Tim McGraw and Faith Hill.

Blake Shelton must really, really love his bride-to-be Miranda Lambert, because he dropped her name approximately seven million times while hosting the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday night in Las Vegas. Even his and co-host Reba McEntire's opening skit was a "rehearsal" for the big wedding night. It was cute. Really. Sort of.

Lambert took home Single Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Female Vocalist of the Year, and Video of the Year, beating out her total wins from last year's event.

Shelton introduced her performance of "A Heart Like Mine," saying that in a few months, they'd begin their new life as husband and wife... and end their lives as wedding planners. The audience laughed as he pulled a stack of cash out of his pocket and chucked the bills in her general direction as the performance began.

Lambert's lyrics, "I ain't the kind you take home to mama, I ain't the kind to wear no ring," were especially tongue-in-cheek tonight. Because in case you didn't know, they're getting married.

Think juggling a marriage, seven children, a No. 1 record and an upcoming tour is enough to keep Sara Evans busy? Think again. The 40-year-old star says she hopes to expand her brood, which already includes three children from her first marriage and four that became part of her family when she wed Alabama football legend Jay Barker in 2008.

"We want a baby together so bad," she tells Chicago radio station US 99.5. "I just have to figure out the right time because I despise pregnancy. I'm begging Jay to let us hire a surrogate, but he's not comfortable with that."

A surrogate mother worked for Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman, who managed to keep their new addition to the family, Faith Margaret Kidman Urban -- born via an anonymous gestational carrier -- top secret until their baby was three weeks old. But Sara says that she would like to hire someone closer to home. "If I did it, I would want it to be somebody I knew, like one of my sisters. I would want it to be a friend, or a sister, that I knew I could trust, and that they wouldn't run off with my baby," she reveals. "I wanted one of my sisters to do it. They're great. They're wonderful, healthy, beautiful young women. They were both, when I mentioned it, like, 'Oh, that's so weird, no way, I would never ...'"

Their reluctance quickly turned to excitement when their sibling mentioned the price tag. "I said, 'I'll give you 20 grand,' and they started fighting over who was going to get to do it! So then I said, 'Why don't you both do it and then Jay and I can have two children ... that would be hysterical. And then I could continue to drink wine, stay skinny, have fun, and also have this beautiful baby."

(Of course, Sara has a great sense of humor and loves to joke around ... so we're pretty sure she's using those excuses jokingly.)

Sara and Jay will have plenty of time to discuss adding to the family in the upcoming months. She heads out on June 18 on the Rascal Flatts tour, where she will be accompanied by her adoring husband, who plans on traveling with her and their large family. "Jay loves the road, and that's something that I'm so grateful for," Sara tells The Boot. "He and I have that personality where we don't have to move all day. If we have my three children out there, which we pretty much always do -- and my kids are so like that, too -- they can hang all day out on the bus. They don't have to be entertained or running around all the time. They can just kind of hang. We love to go to catering, hang out, and then wait for the big show. Then after the show, [we] come back to the bus and watch a movie and just hang out."

Sara will share opening duties with Easton Corbin and Justin Moore. The tour kicks off in Bristow, Va. on June 18. See the complete schedule here.

Don Draper might make it to the 1970s after all. After a protracted standoff, AMC, Lionsgate and Mad Men creator Matthew Weiner have reached an agreement for seasons five and six of the Emmy-winning drama.

Weiner, who will return as showrunner, has also signed a new long-term deal with Lionsgate. As a result of the negotiations, however, season five isn’t expected to air until next year.

“I want to thank all of our wonderful fans for their support,” Weiner said in a statement. “I also want to thank AMC and Lionsgate for agreeing to support the artistic freedom of myself, the cast and the crew so that we can continue to make the show exactly as we have from the beginning. I’m excited to get started on the next chapter of our story.”

“AMC’s original programming began with a mission to create bold storytelling of the highest quality, and Mad Men was the perfect expression of that commitment,” Charlie Collier, president of AMC, said in a statement. “We’ve been proud to support this show from the day we read Matt’s ground-breaking pilot script and have loved building it with Matt and Lionsgate into the cultural phenomenon it has become. For everyone involved in the show and its passionate fans, we are thrilled to announce that the series will continue on AMC under the exceptional vision of Matt Weiner.”
