Rapper Slim Dunkin Fatally Shot In Atlanta Music Studio

Atlanta police say the rapper Slim Dunkin was gunned down Friday evening during a town music studio as he was making ready to record a video.

Police Maj. Keith Meadows said the rapper, whose real name is Mario Hamilton, was fatally shot within the chest when getting in an argument with another individual.

He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Meadows told The Associated Press late Friday that police haven't been able to establish the shooter. He said investigators are interviewing those that were within the studio. He said as several as twenty folks were within the tiny office-type building at the time of the shooting, that transpire around 5:30 p.m., however they were in numerous places.

Police haven't recovered the handgun that was used. Investigators remained at the scene late Friday evening.

"Right currently we're simply attempting to....identify who could have seen what, extremely simply attempting to place the items of the puzzle along," Meadows said. "It looks everyone witnessed one thing terribly completely different. We're simply attempting to travel back and create sense of everything."

Slim Dunkin had appeared on variety of songs with the rapper Waka Flocka Flame. the web site Mtv.com reported that the Brick Squad Monopoly rapper was on a solo track and had recently released a 20-track combine tape that featured Gucci Mane, Roscoe Dash and Pastor Troy.

"It seems the victim was scheduled to try and do a photograph shoot," Meadows said of Friday's events. "Before the video shoot transpire, it seems the victim and suspect got concerned during a verbal altercation. we do not apprehend what that altercation was concerning."

"The suspect made a weapon, discharged that handgun only once, placing the victim within the chest," Meadows said.

Meadows said the victim was in his early 20s and resided within the Atlanta space.

Many fans were posting messages late Friday night on a Facebook page for the rapper.

The website AllHipHop.com last February described Slim Dunkin, a Detroit native, as an up-and-coming talent with "a distinctive lyrical ability and magnificence all his own."

In an interview with the web site, he described himself as somebody "trying to produce for his family by creating one thing out of nothing simply attempting to beat the percentages."

"I do not have wonderful lyrical ability I simply savvy to talk on what I been through and where I came from," he said.

Asked what to expect from him in 2011, he responded: "Music, music, music!
