The 2011 Oscar nominations are in! Which means it's now time for us to gaze into our crystal ball and post our official Oscar predictions in time for the Feb. 27 ceremony.

Should Colin Firth start writing his speech? Will Natalie Portman dance away with her first Oscar? And what will win Best Picture: 'The King's Speech' or 'The Social Network'?

Check out our final winners predictions below.

The Nominees:
'Black Swan'
'The Fighter'
'Inception'
'The Kids Are All Right'
'The King's Speech'
'127 Hours'
'The Social Network'
'Toy Story 3'
'True Grit'
'Winter's Bone'

Will Win: 'The King's Speech'
Dark Horse: 'The Social Network'

Commentary: For months, it seemed like nothing could stop 'The Social Network' from winning Best Picture, especially after it took home four Golden Globes in January.

But in recent weeks, the Facebook frontrunner has been dethroned by 'The King's Speech' after the British period piece won prizes from the Producers Guild, Directors Guild and Screen Actors Guild of America.

Now we're left with a very important question: Will the Academy continue to award innovative, more modern movies, as they did with 'No Country For Old Men' and 'The Hurt Locker'? Or will they go for the more emotional, classic Oscar bait choice? Anything can happen, but for now, we think Harvey Weinstein may want to get his speech ready.

BEST DIRECTOR

The Nominees:
Darren Aronofsky, 'Black Swan'
Joel Coen and Ethan Coen, 'True Grit'
David Fincher, 'The Social Network'
Tom Hooper, 'The King's Speech'
David O'Russell, 'The Fighter'

Will Win: David Fincher
Dark Horse: Tom Hooper

Commentary: Just like in the Best Picture race, Best Director has been narrowed down to two contenders: 'The Social Network' and 'The King's Speech.'

But in this category, 'The King's Speech' has a bigger hill to climb. Tom Hooper up against a veteran director (Fincher) who is well overdue for an Oscar, and who fits in with the recent winners in this category -- Ang Lee, Martin Scorsese, the Coen Brothers, Danny Boyle and Kathryn Bigelow. 'The Social Network' may be losing steam in other categories, but we still "like" its chances here.

BEST ACTOR

The Nominees:
Javier Bardem, 'Biutiful'
Jeff Bridges, 'True Grit'
Jesse Eisenberg, 'The Social Network'
Colin Firth, 'The King's Speech'
James Franco, '127 Hours'

Will Win: Colin Firth
Dark Horse: None

Commentary: We could go on, and on and on about how under-the-radar contenders like Jesse Eisenberg or James Franco could pull off a last-minute upset, but we'd just be kidding ourselves. This race has been Colin Firth's to lose from the get-go, and after winning the Critics' Choice, the Golden Globe and the SAG Award, there's no stopping him now. Firth will win the Oscar on Feb. 27. You can go ahead and bet the farm.

BEST ACTRESS

The Nominees:
Annette Bening, 'The Kids Are All Right'
Nicole Kidman, 'Rabbit Hole'
Jennifer Lawrence, 'Winter's Bone'
Natalie Portman, 'Black Swan'
Michelle Williams, 'Blue Valentine'

Will Win: Natalie Portman
Dark Horse: Annette Bening

Commentary: For awhile, it seemed like this race would turn into a showdown between the veteran actress (Bening) and the pretty young ingenue (Portman). But between the awards she's won, her pregnancy and engagement, this story will likely end with Portman dancing away with the Oscar after all.

Sure, 'Black Swan' didn't get as many nominations as some were predicting; it received "only" five total. But the momentum remains in Portman's favor following her victory at the SAG awards -- so much that we'd be shocked if anybody else won.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTOR

The Nominees:
Christian Bale, 'The Fighter'
John Hawkes, 'Winter's Bone'
Jeremy Renner, 'The Town'
Mark Ruffalo, 'The Kids Are All Right'
Geoffrey Rush, 'The King's Speech'

Will Win: Christian Bale
Dark Horse: Geoffrey Rush

Commentary: Though he may not be as big of a lock as Colin Firth, we can't imagine anyone winning Best Supporting Actor besides Christian Bale. It's the type of performance the Academy loves to honor, and he's already won practically every major award in sight. The remaining four nominees simply won't be able to put up a fight.

BEST SUPPORTING ACTRESS

The Nominees:
Amy Adams, 'The Fighter'
Helena Bonham Carter, 'The King's Speech'
Melissa Leo, 'The Fighter'
Hailee Steinfeld, 'True Grit'
Jacki Weaver, 'Animal Kingdom'

Will Win: Melissa Leo
Dark Horse: Hailee Steinfeld

Commentary: This remains the only open acting category. Conventional wisdom and statistics show that Melissa Leo is the obvious frontrunner, and she'll probably win. But keep an eye out for newcomer Hailee Steinfeld. She's in the second-most nominated movie of the year, and if there's one category in which voters love to honor an up-and-comer, it's here. We're sticking with Leo, but don't be surprised if Steinfeld's name is called on Oscar night.

BEST DOCUMENTARY

The Nominees:
'Exit Through the Gift Shop'
'Gasland'
'Inside Job'
'Restrepo'
'Waste Land'

Will Win: 'Inside Job'
Dark Horse: 'Exit Through the Gift Shop'

Commentary: 'Exit Through the Gift Shop' may be the most popular and widely-seen movie of the bunch, but we're liking the topical 'Inside Job's' chances here. (The film tracks the reasons behind the 2008 financial crisis.)

BEST ANIMATED FEATURE

The Nominees:
'How to Train Your Dragon'
'The Illusionist'
'Toy Story 3'

Will/Should Win: 'Toy Story 3'
Dark Horse: None

Commentary: 'How to Train Your Dragon' and 'The Illusionist' are both strong movies, but when you're up against a Best Picture nominee -- not to mention a Pixar movie -- you pretty much have no shot at winning. In fact, we'll go ahead and call 'Toy Story 3' a lock in this category.

BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY

The Nominees:
'Another Year'
'The Fighter'
'Inception'
'The Kids Are All Right'
'The King's Speech'

Will Win: 'The King's Speech'
Dark Horse: 'Inception'

Commentary: After getting snubbed for Best Director, you'd think the Academy would leap at the chance to give Christopher Nolan a makeup Oscar wherever they could. Unfortunately, it won't be in this category, as Nolan is up against Best Picture frontrunner 'The King's Speech.' Sure, Nolan may have won the WGA, but remember: 'The King's Speech' was ineligible in that race. This one is a completely different ballgame.

BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY

The Nominees:
'127 Hours'
'The Social Network'
'Toy Story 3'
'True Grit'
'Winter's Bone'

Will Win: 'The Social Network'
Dark Horse: None

Commentary: Even if 'The Social Network' doesn't win Best Picture, Aaron Sorkin's fast-talking screenplay is a lock to win Best Adapted Screenplay, and his speech should be one of the highlights of the evening.

BEST FOREIGN LANGUAGE FILM

The Nominees:
'Biutiful' (Mexico)
'Dogtooth' (Greece)
'In a Better World' (Denmark)
'Incendies' (Canada)
'Outside the Law' (Algeria)

Will Win: 'In a Better World'
Dark Horse: 'Biutiful'

Commentary: Javier Bardem's Best Actor nomination proves the Academy -- or at least the acting branch -- is a fan of 'Biutiful.' Still, we think Denmark's 'In a Better World' will keep its Golden Globe-winning momentum going all the way to the Kodak stage.

BEST ART DIRECTION

The Nominees:
'Alice in Wonderland'
'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I'
'Inception'
'The King's Speech'
'True Grit'

Will Win: 'Alice in Wonderland'
Dark Horse: 'The King's Speech'

Commentary: All signs point to 'The King's Speech,' especially after it won the Art Directors Guild award. However, Tim Burton's eye-popping sets may be too hard for voters to resist. (See: 'Sleepy Hollow.')

BEST CINEMATOGRAPHY

The Nominees:
'Black Swan'
'Inception'
'The King's Speech'
'The Social Network'
'True Grit'

Will Win: 'True Grit'
Dark Horse: 'Inception'

Commentary: Wally Pfister's beautifully lensed work on 'Inception' won him top honors from the American Society of Cinematographers. But he's up against Roger Deakins, who lensed the 10-time nominated 'True Grit' and who has yet to win an Oscar (if you can believe it). We think 2011 may finally be his year.

BEST COSTUME DESIGN

The Nominees:
'Alice in Wonderland'
'I Am Love'
'The King's Speech'
'The Tempest'
'True Grit'

Will Win: 'The King's Speech'
Dark Horse: 'Alice in Wonderland'

Commentary: Jenny Beavan is a past winner ('A Room With a View'), so she's already in good graces with the Academy. Plus, the fact that she designed the costumes for the Best Picture frontrunner should be enough to push her past dark-horse contender and two-time winner Colleen Atwood ('Alice in Wonderland').

BEST FILM EDITING

The Nominees:
'Black Swan'
'The Fighter'
'The King's Speech'
'127 Hours'
'The Social Network'

Will Win: 'The Social Network'
Dark Horse: 'The King's Speech'

Commentary: This category is often a telling sign of what movie will win Best Picture, but no matter what happens in that race, 'The Social Network's' fast-paced and stylized editing will likely be too hard for voters to resist here.

BEST ORIGINAL SCORE

The Nominees:
'How to Train Your Dragon'
'Inception'
'The King's Speech'
'127 Hours'
'The Social Network'

Will Win: 'The King's Speech'
Dark Horse: 'The Social Network'

Commentary: Alexandre Desplat is long overdue for an Oscar, and his 'King's Speech' score is the exactly the type that voters love to honor. But after the Golden Globes, voters could go for 'The Social Network' instead. Let's be honest: Who wouldn't want to see Trent Reznor accept an Oscar?

BEST ORIGINAL SONG

The Nominees:
'Coming Home' - 'Country Strong'
'I See the Light' - 'Tangled'
'If I Rise' - '127 Hours'
'We Belong Together' - 'Toy Story 3'

Will Win: '127 Hours'
Dark Horse: 'Toy Story 3'

Commentary: This is a wide-open field, which means that any movie could win, especially 'Toy Story 3,' which has the most recognizable name (Randy Newman). But don't count out A.R. Rahman, who won two years ago for 'Slumdog Millionaire' and who may very well win again this year.

BEST SOUND MIXING

The Nominees:
'Inception'
'The King's Speech'
'Salt'
'The Social Network'
'True Grit'

Will Win: 'Inception'
Dark Horse: 'The Social Network'

Commentary: Since it doesn't have much of a chance in the major categories, expect 'Inception' to sweep the sound and visual categories.

BEST SOUND EDITING

The Nominees:
'Inception'
'Toy Story 3'
'TRON: Legacy'
'True Grit'
'Unstoppable'

Will Win: 'Inception'
Dark Horse: 'True Grit'

Commentary: 'Inception' is the biggest and most tech-savvy movie of the bunch, so look for an easy win here. Its only main competitor, 'True Grit,' feels like a distant second at best.

BEST VISUAL EFFECTS

The Nominees:
'Alice in Wonderland'
'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part I'
'Hereafter'
'Inception'
'Iron Man 2'

Will Win: 'Inception'
Dark Horse: 'Alice in Wonderland'

Commentary: Once again, 'Inception's' high-profile status -- not to mention dazzling visual effects -- is more than enough for a win here. If there's a surprise, it'll come from 'Alice in Wonderland' -- but don't count on it.

BEST MAKEUP

The Nominees:
'Barney's Version'
'The Way Back'
'The Wolfman'

Will Win: 'The Wolfman'
Dark Horse: 'The Way Back'

Commentary: We know what you're thinking: Academy Award Winner 'The Wolfman'? Sure, it sounds crazy, until you realize the makeup was done by six-time winner Rick Baker. Expect him to pick up a seventh win on Sunday.

BEST ANIMATED SHORT FILM

The Nominees:
'Day & Night'
'The Gruffalo'
'Let's Pollute'
'The Lost Thing'
'Madagascar, carnet de voyage (Madagascar, a Journey Diary)'

Will Win: 'Day & Night'
Dark Horse: 'The Gruffalo'

Commentary: For more on the nominated films, click here.

BEST DOCUMENTARY SHORT

The Nominees:
'Killing in the Name'
'Poster Girl'
'Strangers No More'
'Sun Come Up'
'The Warriors of Quiugang'

Will Win: 'Strangers No More'
Dark Horse: 'Killing in the Name'

Commentary: For more on the nominated films, click here.

BEST LIVE-ACTION SHORT

The Nominees:
'The Confession'
'The Crush'
'God of Love'
'Na Wewe'
'Wish 143'

Will Win: 'Na Wewe'
Dark Horse: 'Wish 143'

It was a joyous night for five 'American Idol' contestants last night -- and a very difficult night for one 'American Idol' judge.

The show handed out the first five of its top 24 slots on Wednesday, giving singers Naima Adedapo, Ashthon Jones, Haley Reinhart, Clint Jun Gamboa and Paul McDonald a pass into the big next round. Unfortunately, they were unable to send along Chris Medina, the singer from Illinois who melted hearts when he brought his brain-injured girlfriend to meet judges Randy Jackson, Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.

That's what made it so hard for Lopez to tell Medina the news.

Slow and deliberate in her speech, Lopez praised Medina but told him that, in the singing competition, his performance just wasn't strong enough. When he left the room, Lopez broke down into tears and sobs, worried that she hadn't told him in the right way and afraid that she had broken his heart.

For his part, Medina seemed disappointed but fine -- but leave it to Ryan Seacrest to bring the man out in you. And maybe he already knew that he'd be performing on "The Tonight Show" on Friday -- not a bad consolation prize.

Brett Loewenstern, Jacee Badaeux and Colton Dixon were the last three contestants on the Green Line show. Only one of them made it to the Top 24.

I was so upset because all three were my favorites! How could they do this?

Anyway, in the end curly ginge made it — which officially marks the end of our “Colton Dixon is the Dark Horse” and “Double Bieber Forever” campaigns. It was fun while they lasted.

We will miss you Jacee! Go Brett!

The 7 Wonders of the Ancient World

The 7 Wonders of the World (or the 7 Wonders of the Ancient World) refers to any of many lists of remarkable constructions of classical antiquity according to guidebooks common amongst the ancient Hellenic tourists, particularly in the 1st and 2nd centuries BC. One of the most prominent of these, the versions by Antipater of Sidon and an observer identified as Philon of Byzantium, is composed of seven works situated around the Mediterranean rim.

See the well-known Seven Wonders of the Ancient World: Walk by way of the lush Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Climb the fantastic Lighthouse at Alexandria. Stand just before the immense statue of Zeus at Olympia. Marvel at the beauty of the Temple of Artemis in Ephesus.

7 wonders of the world | 7 ancient wonders of the world | 7 natural wonders of the world

Various lists of the 7 Wonders of the World have been compiled from antiquity to the present day, to catalogue the world’s most spectacular natural wonders and manmade structures.

The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is the first known list of the most remarkable creations of classical antiquity, and was based on guide-books popular among Hellenic sight-seers and only includes works located around the Mediterranean rim. The number seven was chosen because the Greeks believed it to be the representation of perfection and plenty. Many similar lists have been made. ( Read 7 Wonders of The Ancient World more... )

Success breeds imitation, and in the world of video games this is no more apparent than in the realm of puzzle games. Casual game company PopCap struck gold with Bejeweled, a simple and addictive grid-based gem-matching game, and it wasn't long before competing casual game company iWin conjured up its own, Mayan-themed Bejeweled knockoff called Jewel Quest.

Now MumboJumbo is getting in on the action with 7 Wonders of the Ancient World for the PlayStation Portable, which cribs more directly from Jewel Quest than Bejeweled, effectively making 7 Wonders a knockoff of a knockoff. ( Read 7 Wonders of The Ancient World more... )

7 Wonders of the Ancient World

The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World is one of the first travel lists in history. The idea of creating a list of architectural wonders arose following Alexander the Great’s conquest of much of the known world in the 4th century BC, which gave Greek travelers access to the civilizations of the Egyptians, Persians, and Babylonians.

Best Picture

What Will Win: The King’s Speech

What Should Win: Toy Story 3

Why? The race seems to be between a king and the geeks, but with the DGA, PGA, and SAG Best Picture awards under its belt, The King’s Speech is the front runner. The Academy also has a thing for good old fashioned feel good movies.

However, The Social Network is generally regarded as the best film of the year and, 12 months ago, the Academy members voted for The Hurt Locker, the film generally regarded as the best film of its year, so The King’s Speech is not quite a lock yet. Other aspects The Social Network has going for it are that Mark Zuckerberg was voted Man of the Year by TIME magazine and Facebook recently helped the first ever electronic revolution in Egypt.
Still, if I know anything about the Academy, it’s that they go with their hearts not their brains. Remember when Rocky won over Taxi Driver? Or Shakespeare in Love over Saving Private Ryan? Or… I have a word limit and I plan on sticking to it.

Best Director

Who Should Will Win: David Fincher for The Social Network

Who Should Win: David Fincher for The Social Network

Why? In this category Academy members tend to get it right. Fincher has the veteran card and Hooper has the DGA Best Director Award. Fincher has been nominated, before while Hooper is new to the game. I know one of the riskiest Oscar wagers is to bet on a Best Picture / Director split, but it seems that this year more than ever a split is due. Like with Shakespeare in Love and Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator and Traffic, Chicago and The Pianist, Crash and Brokeback Mountain all the signs point to such a split. Soon we’ll be able add The King’s Speech and The Social Network to this list.

Best Actor

Who Will Win: Colin Firth for The King’s Speech

Who Should Win: Colin Firth for The King’s Speech

Why? This is pretty much a lock and I’m sure Firth is already preparing his acceptance speech. The only thing that worries me is the sudden surprise appearance of Bardem with his Cannes Film Festival Best Actor win. Nobody saw it coming – and a surprise nomination could turn into a surprise win. But I doubt it will. Firth is winning this one.

Best Actress

Who Will Win: Natalie Portman for Black Swan

Who Should Win: Jennifer Lawrence for Winter’s Bone

Why? It’s hard to argue against Portman in Black Swan and she looks like she’ll be an Oscar-winner this time next week. Bening could somehow influence voters with her veteran card but I don’t see it happening to any effect. I hope the two will split votes and Lawrence will be the surprise winner.

Best Supporting Actor

Who Will Win: Christian Bale for The Fighter

Who Should Win: John Hawkes for Winter’s Bone

Why? It’s another of those two horse races; I hope for a split in the voting and a surprise win for Hawkes.

Best Supporting Actress

Who Will Win: Melissa Leo in The Fighter

Who Should Win: Jacki Weaver in Animal Kingdom

Why? All signs point to Leo, but the Academy loves the chance to reward two lead performances within a year, so Hailee Steinfeld (who is nominated here, but really plays the lead in True Grit) may win, even though Weaver impressed me more than either.

Danny Boyle's 'Frankenstein' is already a monster hit for the National Theatre (its current booking period, up to Apr 17, is sold out except for day seats). Does it live up to its billing? The answer is an almighty 'yes'.

This 'Frankenstein' belongs to the monster - or 'the Creature', as it's re-christened in Nick Dear's script - which is, by the way, highly sensitive to the currents of revolution, reason, and Romantic death-driven art that first animated Shelley's Gothic vision. Boyle's production begins with the Creature's unnatural birth from whatcould bedescribed as aDa Vinci pod: a man-sized vellum-coloured circle, which ejects a scarred and writhing life-form, like a parody of Leonardo's ideal diagram.

This birth scene is an extraordinary challenge for an actor: 15 minutes of fully naked jerks and rictus-mouthed pangs, under the harsh pulses of light that thrum through the brilliant rack of bulbs and alembics that roof the auditorium. Both Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller, who alternate the roles of Frankenstein and his creation, deserve respect (if you're in the front row, prepare for an eyeful), but the more muscular Miller is a revelation as the Creature. He brings a powerful brutish innocence to this man-made baby, rejected at birth, and makes his many acts of destruction, such as torching the kind old blind buffer who teaches him to read using 'Paradise Lost', seem elemental and therefore less irredeemable.

Cumberbatch is camper, funnier and nastier in the monster's role. But you feel more for Miller's Caliban-like Creature. And Cumberbatch - as fans of the Beeb's 'Sherlock' will attest - has a sadistic flair when it comes to playing a semi-autistic genius with a chip of ice at his heart. The dynamic of the duo works best with Miller providing the muscle and the pathos, Cumberbatch the flamboyant, cerebral chill.

The strength and weakness of Dear's adaptation is how faithful it is to Shelley's novel. 'Frankenstein' might have been more pertinent updated to our own Cyborg era - Underworld's music, which sounds like a dance of heavy machinery in the sinister bits and synthesised optimism when the Creature gambols on the grass on his first day, underscores the possibility.

The production might have been more claustrophobic and scary if Dear had imposed some unities of place and time - instead, months are telescoped into minutes as we follows Shelley's monster across Europe. But the payoff is an unforgettable showdown in the arctic ice, where the murderous, rejected Creature cuts a Beckettian caper at the end of the world and teaches its cold Creator something about the essence of love.

Boyle - who cut his creative teeth in the theatre - does a film-tastic job of whisking us from location to location on the Olivier's revolving stage. Allegory meets nightmare, in the spectacular steampunk train that comes whistling and sparking towards the audience; the wedding night murder in Frankenstein's whiter-than-white family house, with its Enlightened proportions; and in the figure of the Creature's bride, a goddess sutured together from corpses, whose docile grace and downcast eyes are modelled on Botticelli's 'Birth of Venus'. In true Gothic spirit, it shows how the God-like and monstrous capacities of man are conjoined - and that either can be master of the other.

It's not all superlative. The line between allegorical simplicity and clunkingly clichéd lines is always narrow and often crossed. The bit parts are broadly written and overplayed (with the honourable exception of Karl Johnson as the Creature's teacher). Naomie Harris endeavours to be luminous as Frankenstein's underwritten fiancée. George Harris fails to make any emotional sense as Frankenstein's father. But these elements are not, fundamentally, what so many people have paid to see.

The next lot of tickets go onsale to National Theatre members on Feb 28 and the public on Mar 10. Get ready: they'll go monstrously quickly.

Perry Moore, the executive producer of the 'Chronicles of Narnia' trilogy, was found dead in his New York apartment, the New York Daily News is reporting. He was 39.

Sources told the newspaper that Moore was found unconscious by his partner, Hunter Hill, in the bathroom of their Soho home on Thursday after an apparent overdose of OxyContin. He was pronounced dead soon after responders arrived.

"We're in shock," Moore's father, Bill, told the Daily News. He added that when he spoke to his son just the night before, he was in a "great, great mood."

The building's doorman was equally surprised.

"I was talking to him last night. He was such a sweet guy," he told the New York Post. "They're saying it was drugs, but I didn't know him to be that way."

An official cause of death will be determined by autopsy.

Moore also wrote 'Hero,' a 2007 book about the world's first gay teen superhero. He and Hill wrote and directed 'Lake City,' a 2008 drama starring Sissy Spacek and Rebecca Romijn.

Gypsy Rose Lee, Gypsy Rose Lee (January 8, 1911 to April 26, 1970) was an American burlesque artist, famous for her strptase. She was also an actress, author and playwright, whose memory was made in 1957 the musical and film Gypsy. Gypsy Rose Lee was born Rosa Louise Hovick in Seattle, Washington in 1911, although her mother later razed for three years before the two ages of her daughters. She was first known by her first name, Louise. His mother, Rose Hovick (nee Rose Evangeline Thompson), was a teenage bride fresh from a convent where she married the Norwegian and American John Olaf Hovick, who was a seller of advertising in newspapers and a reporter from the

Seattle Times. Louise’s sister, Ellen Evangeline Hovick (better known as actress June Havoc), was born in 1913.

After their parents divorced, the girls supported the family by appearing in vaudeville [when?] Where talent shone in June, while Louise remained in the background. At the age of 15 in December 1928, June eloped with Bobby Reed, a dancer in the law, to the chagrin of her mother to move to a brief career in the dance marathon, which was more profitable than tap dance at the time.

Louise singing and dancing talents were insufficient for the act without June Finally; it became apparent that Louise could make money in burlesque, which earned him legendary status as a strptase artist chic and witty. Initially, her act was propelled forward when a shoulder strap on one of her dresses gave way, causing her dress to fall at her feet, despite her efforts to cover themselves, encouraged by audience reaction, she continued to go round the Centre’s performance. His innovations have been almost casual strip style, from the erratic styles of most burlesque strippers (she emphasized the “tease” in “strptase”) and have a keen sense of humor in her act together. She became as famous for its scene of mind for its style band, and changes her stage name Gypsy Rose Lee-she became one of the biggest stars of Minsky’s Burlesque, where she played for four years. It has often been arrested in raids on entertainment, Minsky brothers.

Gypsy Rose Lee went to the host of a morning San Francisco KGO-TV talk-show television, Gypsies. She was diagnosed in 1969 of lung cancer with metastasis, which led her to reconcile with June before her death. “This will be my gift, you know,” she told June, “my mother now.”

The walls of her Los Angeles home were adorned with pictures of Joan Mir? Pablo Picasso, Marc Chagall, Max Ernst and Dorothea Tanning, who have been gifts to her by the artists themselves, Like Picasso, she was a supporter of the Popular Front in the Spanish Civil War and raised money for charity to alleviate the suffering of children during the Spanish conflict.

She also founded one of the first kennel dedicated to breeding Chinese Crested dogs in the United States, “Lee”, which was sold after her death to Mrs. Ida Garrett and Deborah Wood. [Citation needed] Gypsy Rose Lee died of lung cancer in Los Angeles in 1970. She is buried in Inglewood Park Cemetery in Inglewood, California.

(Thetimes) Gypsy Rose Lee is one of America’s legendary artists. On this 100th anniversary of her birth, you may wonder what her legacy endures. Rita Braver can explain:
In 1943 she played herself in “Stage Door Canteen.” By then she was famous: The beautiful and intelligent cleaner who became an international figure. Above all, it was her own creation. Even her name has been invented. She grew up as Rose Louise Hovik.
When asked if she has never explained why she chose the name “Gypsy,” her son, Erik Lee Preminger, said: “His favorite line about this is,” Darling, I said that history so many different ways, I do not remember which one is true. ”
With 18 volumes of scrapbooks, Preminger is still discovering things about his mother. For example: She claimed to be born in 1914, but new research suggests it was 1911, 100 years ago!
“Why do you think people are still interested in your mother?” Braver asked.
“Because people can not believe that a stripper could attract the kind of attention and praise she has done,” he said

After a public fight that went on for a few years, Paris Hilton and Kim Kardashian have finally made up! They were once very close friends but then fell apart as they became jealous of each other.

According to ‘Us Magazine’, Paris Hilton was the one who started the reconciliation and contacted Kim first. Then at the Jimmy Lovine Grammy after party Paris was happily chatting to Kim and even apologized over past behavior, according to a source.

According to the source: “Paris came up to her and apologized, and said she didn’t want to fight. Paris said she was happy for Kim’s success despite what reports have said — Kim was sweet and accepted her apology.”

In other Kardashian news, Kim has released a few photographs of her in the recording studio, making the first Kim Kardashian song! Hip hop producer “The Dream” and rapper Kanye West helped Kim record the song and all profits will go to a cancer charity.

Kim blogged the photos and told fans: “Ok guys, I’ve decided to share some fun special photos from my first day in the recording studio with The Dream! This was such a fun experience! It was so great to do something completely out of my comfort zone and I really recommend that you guys challenge yourselves to do the same this year!”

On Valentine’s Day the band announced that its first album since 2007, “The King of Limbs,” would be released digitally five days later, on Saturday, with a retail CD arriving March 28 and an elaborate package, including vinyl discs, billed as the “Newspaper Album,” on May 9.

Unlike the pay-what-you-will policy for the “In Rainbows” album online in 2007, the band set prices: $9 for MP3 files and $14 for CD-quality WAV files. Then, keeping listeners off-balance, it suddenly released the album Friday instead.

Since, by my guess, about 99.8 percent of Radiohead fans are online, there was a tsunami of Internet buzz and instant reactions, like this one, to an album that is likely to reveal itself far more gradually. Near the end of “Separator,” the album’s finale, an echoey Thom Yorke croons, “If you think this is everything, you’re wrong.”

“The King of Limbs,” named after a gnarled ancient tree in a Wiltshire forest, holds eight songs in just under 38 minutes. The sonic abstractions that have fascinated Radiohead since “Kid A,” back in 2000, are essential to “The King of Limbs,” and the band’s new songs use them brilliantly. Most of the new album is so vertiginously layered that it’s plausible the band spent nearly four years in the studio making it.

“In Rainbows” had a long and often public gestation, with Radiohead road-testing new songs onstage while speculation raged until the band, free of its major-label contract, decided how to release it. By contrast, it seems “The King of Limbs” materialized out of secret deliberations, with most of its songs previously unheard by all but Radiohead and the inner circle that includes its producer, Nigel Godrich.

Mr. Yorke played the exception, “Lotus Flower,” on tour with his band, and he dances, twitches and partly lip-synchs through it all by himself in a new video clip. It’s the new album’s most down-to-earth, hip-shaking song, as well as its most sustained melodic one. While the lyrics bemoan “an empty space inside my heart,” they also offer what could be the album’s mission statement: “I will slip into the groove and cut me up and cut me up.”

One song, “Feral,” does just that: It programs a galloping rhythm and a throbbing low bass line akin to the British dance music called dubstep, and chops Mr. Yorke’s vocals into unintelligible stray syllables.

Rhythms, loops and noise are the makings of “The King of Limbs.” So are reflections on what might be rapture or annihilation, or (sometimes simultaneously) on the strains of a shaky romance. Radiohead irregularly posts what it’s listening to on its Web site, and spooky experimental dance music has long been one of its staples. Even with more decipherable verses, songs rarely concern themselves with what the five-man band — Mr. Yorke, Jonny Greenwood, his older brother, Colin Greenwood, Ed O’Brien and Philip Selway — might be able to perform onstage. The parts within Radiohead’s arrangements fan out across beats and bar lines, meshing in ways that overdubbing and programming can accomplish more easily than human hands.

“Bloom” opens the album with loops of piano, drums and less identifiable instrumental tones. A staggered rhythm barely resolves itself as a dazed ballad, and the production keeps mutating, sprouting strings and horns and who knows what else: “Open your mouth wide/A universe inside,” Mr. Yorke sings.

“Morning Mr. Magpie” has a more clearly delineated underlying riff, but it’s disputed by cymbal taps and overlaid guitars. “Little by Little” has intertwined acoustic guitar picking and a descending chord progression akin to older Radiohead songs like “Reckoner,” but even more than its predecessors, it is engulfed in percussion. It’s an infidelity song: “The last one out of the box/The one who broke the spell,” Mr. Yorke sings. “I’m such a tease and you’re such a flirt.”

The closest thing to the sound of live music is “Codex,” a piano dirge hinting at suicidal thoughts, with an abyss of reverberations under its instruments. “Give Up the Ghost” offers the comforts of an acoustic guitar and a wish for benediction — “Gather up the pitiful in your arms” — against a phantom choir of Mr. Yorke, shakily harmonizing with himself. Is he singing, “Don’t hurt me” or “Don’t want me”?

By now, Radiohead’s evasion of standard music-business practices is ancient news, but the band may still be thinking about pop’s economy of copying and dissemination. “Morning Mr. Magpie” complains, “You’ve stolen all my magic/Took my melody.” But the new songs demonstrate otherwise. More likely, Radiohead is defying that mindset, creating exactly what it wants on its own timetable, to make another sudden digital splash.

“The King of Limbs” is Radiohead in its familiar richly depressive mode: full of pained longing and fixated on musical nuance, getting lost in sound and then clawing its way out beautifully. As an album, it’s too brief. But these are songs to dive into.

David Archuleta Dropped By Record Label. David Archuleta has been dropped by his label, Jive Records, on Thursday. Rumors that the American Idol season 7 runner-up began to spread Friday.

Archuleta, who appeared on season 7 of American Idol, was dropped by Jive Records. A spokesperson for the company has confirmed the news. In addition, the singer’s former manager also made a statement that the singer was cut.

The “Idol” singer released the album “The Other Side of Down” in 2010. It peaked at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 album chart and sold 67,000 copies. Jive Records decided to drop Archuleta because of the poor sales.

The singer’s self-titled debut in 2008 sold 765,000 copies. In addition, his 2009 holiday album “Christmas from the Heart” sold 246,000. It is possible that he could be picked up by another label who’s willing to have the patience to turn his career around.

Briefly: A quick update, because tomorrow is when you'll really want to come back. Entertainment Weekly is reporting that the first official trailer for 20th Century Fox's X-Men: First Class, directed by Matthew Vaughn (quotes and more here) and produced by Bryan Singer, arrives online tomorrow via their official Facebook. They're obviously trying to hit the key demographic of comic fans who want to see this. Anyway, EW released that awesome new photo of Michael Fassbender as Magneto above, and there's a nifty full-size X-Men: First Class logo you should check out below as well. Can't wait to see the trailer - see ya tomorrow!

On behalf of 20th Century Fox we are excited to announce that tomorrow, February 10, 2011 Facebook’s worldwide community of X-Men fans will come together for an exclusive first look at the trailer for the highly anticipated film X-Men: First Class!

Fans can be the first to check it out here: Facebook.com/XMenMovies

As the number of fans who share the trailer grows, a specially designed X-App will subsequently unlock special content. The X-App gives users the power to evolve their Facebook experience and customize their profile pictures.

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lehnsherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time.

Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to prevent nuclear Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, the film includes James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Rose Byrne, January Jones, Oliver Platt, and Kevin Bacon.
