| When you have Jack Nicklaus raving like a fanboy then you must have done something mighty impressive on a golf course. Tiger Woods' memorable shot on the 16th hole at the 2012 Memorial Tournament certainly qualifies as "mighty impressive" and then some. Trailing leader Rory Sabbatini by a stroke on Sunday afternoon and facing a treacherous lie about 50 feet from the cup, Tiger made just the sort of bold and breathtaking shot that had originally lifted him to the lofty heights from which he has so publicly fallen. The stunning 50-foot chip for birdie pulled Woods level with Sabbatini and had the term "Vintage Tiger" trending on Twitter in no time. And, in true vintage fashion, Tiger celebrated the shot with a fierce fist pump. "I don't think I've ever seen a better one. That was the most unbelievable, gutsy shot that I've ever seen," gushed Nicklaus, who founded the tournament, after Jim Nantz of CBS asked if anyone had hit a better shot at the Memorial. "It was really, really unbelievable, particularly because of the position he was in. He hits it short the tournament is over. He hits it long the tournament is over. He put it in the hole. Unbelievable." Not long after making that shot, Woods was shaking hands with Nicklaus near the 18th green. Not only had Woods overtaken Sabbatini to win the Memorial (for the fifth time) but he'd also tied Nicklaus for 2nd on the all-time wins list with 73 PGA Tour victories. BLOG POSTS
