Brittney Griner Is The Best Basketball Player In The Nation
Dashiell Bennett — [What Are We To Do With Brittney Griner?] Baylor's Brittney Griner assaulted someone on a basketball court last night and after dealing with LeGarrette Blount and Elizabeth Lambert, it's still not clear what the appropriate level of hysterical moral outrage should be.
From a pure "Dude, that's not cool" perspective Griner's sucker punch of Texas Tech's Jordan Barncastle is just as egregious as the one Blount laid on Boise State's Byron Hout. (And it wasn't a "forearm." It was a wheelhouse.) It's actually worse, because the game was still going on. Never mind that the best player on the team got herself ejected from a close game; there was still plenty of opportunity to get back at Barncastle within the rules of the game. After all, that's what Lambert was trying to do when she shocked a nation with her vicious elbows. Jostling with opponents is what soccer players do, even if she happened take it beyond the bounds human decency.

Nimitz High School graduate Brittney Griner scored 23 points and the top ranked Baylor Lady Bears won their 19th straight game with a 69-45 victory Wednesday night.
Griner had 15 points in the first half but didn't show the dominant form fans have come to expect from her. The Huskers had a couple 6-foot-3 centers, senior Catheryn Redmon and freshman Adrianna Maurer, to guard the 6-8 Griner. They double-teamed Griner at times, but sometimes let her go one-on-one.
The preseason All-American, shooting 55 percent for the season, missed six of her first nine shots and finished 6 of 14. She made all 11 of her free throws, but grabbed just four rebounds, half her average. ( Read Brittney Griner more... )

Moore, Griner shine in February Frenzy
We had a potential Women's Final Four preview in Hartford and Waco tonight with four Top 15 teams on display.
Let's start in Connecticut. It's not a coincidence that UConn has won an NCAA record 75 consecutive home games. Visitors get devoured when they enter the Huskies' lair. And Oklahoma is the latest team to experience the domination of Maya Moore and company. UConn jumped out to an early 18-6 lead, and it became evident that the biggest question was not whether UConn would win, but by how much. It turns out the answer was 41, as UConn dismantled, thrashed and completely dominated the Sooners, 86-45.
