On the newest “Dancing with the Stars” episode, contestant Kellie Pickler and her partner Derek Hough performed a jazz routine that seemed to win over the judges and put Pickler and Hough in second place among the contestants.

The dance was set to the song “Lights” by Ellie Goulding and the set included thin green lights that glowed behind the couple as they performed the routine.
Because there wasn’t an elimination round during the first week of competition, contestants currently hold a score out of 60 rather than the usual 30, combining the scores of the first two weeks. Pickler and Hough currently stand at 47 out of 60, behind Disney Channel star Zendaya and her partner Valentin Chmerkovskiy, who hold a score of 50 out of 60. However, the two couples earned the same score for the second night with 26 out of 30.
For week two, last week was a spark,” judge Len Goodman said to Pickler and Hough. “This is a fire. Well done.”
Reviewers of the TV show seemed impressed with Pickler’s performance as well.
“Former 'American Idol' contender-turned-country star Kellie Pickler wowed with a thrilling, futuristic jazz number,” Access Hollywood wrote in its recap of the show.
Pickler said in an interview that she’s feeling more comfortable on the show after initially expressing trepidation.
“People are expecting me to be good, and I don’t know if I am or not,” she had said in an interview, according to Wetpaint. “I hope people don’t have too high of expectations for me, because I’m not a dancer.”
But in an interview with On the Red Carpet, a website produced by ABC News, Pickler said she now felt more at ease.
“I mean, last week was the first show – so overwhelming,” she said. “But I don’t know, I'm still running on adrenaline. I'm very happy… I'm very thankful… We gotta bring it next week, big time.”
Hough spoke positively of his partner in an interview with the website.
“I want her to be sensational because she has the capacity to be fantastic,” he said of Pickler.
One of the pairs will be eliminated tonight in the newest “Dancing with the Stars” episode.

SEOUL (Reuters) - Reclusive North Korea is to cut the last channel of communications with the South because war could break out at "any moment", it said on Wednesday, days after warning the United States and South Korea of nuclear attack.
The move is the latest in a series of bellicose threats from North Korea in response to new U.N. sanctions imposed after its third nuclear test in February and to "hostile" military drills under way joining the United States and South Korea.
The North has already stopped responding to calls on the hotline to the U.S. military that supervises the heavily armed Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) and the Red Cross line that has been used by the governments of both sides.
"Under the situation where a war may break out at any moment, there is no need to keep north-south military communications which were laid between the militaries of both sides," the North's KCNA news agency quoted a military spokesman as saying.
"There do not exist any dialogue channel and communications means between the DPRK and the U.S. and between the north and the south."
Despite the shrill rhetoric, few believe North Korea, formally known as the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), will risk starting a full-out war.
North and South Korea are still technically at war anyway after their 1950-53 civil conflict ended with an armistice, not a treaty, which the North says it has since torn to pieces.
The "dialogue channel" is used on a daily basis to process South Koreans who work in the Kaesong industrial project where 123 South Korean firms employ more than 50,000 North Koreans to make household goods.
About 120 South Koreans are stationed at Kaesong at any one time on average.
It is the last remaining joint project in operation between the two Koreas after South Korea cut off most aid and trade in response to Pyongyang's shooting of a South Korean tourist and the sinking of a South Korean naval vessel blamed on the North.
Kaesong is one of North Korea's few hard currency earners, producing $2 billion a year in trade with the South, and Pyongyang is unlikely to close it except as a last resort.
The North's military spokesman representing its "supreme command" did not mention Kaesong, which has suffered temporary shutdowns before.
The South's government said it would take steps to ensure the safety of the workers at Kaesong. It did not elaborate.

Imagine you work in a small office. A group of co-workers asks if you'd like to go in on some Powerball tickets. You decline. You're on a tight budget, and you've only been there a few weeks, anyway.
You show up for work the next day to find out they won.
That's exactly what happened to Jennifer Maldonado, an administrative assistant at Keller Williams Partners Realty in Plantation, Fla., whose co-workers matched five numbers in Saturday's $338 million Powerball drawing, winning $1 million.
Co-worker Laurie Finkelstein Reader bought 120 tickets—or $240 worth—at a Mobil gas station in Pembroke Pines after collecting $20 from nearly everyone in the office. According to the Miami Herald, Reader offered to lend Maldonado the money since she hadn't received her first paycheck, but Maldonado said no thanks.

When Maldonado showed up for work, "everyone was there, screaming, jumping, running, hugging, crying," according to the paper.
“I knew I was the only one who hadn’t put in the money, so I thought they were pranking me,” Maldonado said.
It wasn't a prank—and, even better, Maldonado's co-workers plan to share their winnings, roughly $83,333 per person after taxes, with her.
"It’s about sharing the happiness," Reader said.
One person who doesn't have to share: Pedro Quezada, a 45-year-old Dominican immigrant and Passaic, N.J., deli owner, who bought the lone $338 million winning Powerball ticket.
