Police chief wants workplace drug tests

The head of the Metropolitan Police has suggested there could be more drugs tests for employees at work, as part of attempts to discourage recreational users.

"How many drug addicts have you got working for you?" Bernard Hogan-Howe asked an audience at the think-tank policy exchange on Tuesday.

Former shadow home secretary David Davis is leading calls to change the law that bans "insulting" language. A lot of which will be flying around parliament today as the Tory MPs fight each other for control of their backbench 1922 committee.

Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude and attorney general Dominic Grieve will face MPs over allegations they intend to downgrade the Freedom of Information Act. One former secretary of state who has similar views is Jack Straw, who will be before the Leveson Inquiry today.

Also: Barack Obama makes fun of David Beckham's underwear.
