Mubin Shaikh: Will it Take Another Attack for Canada to Take Terrorism Seriously?
The Canadian government has recently announced a plan to establish grants of $1 million to academic institutions to "study" terrorist threats to Canada. Twenty-seven years after the worst attack on Canadian interests -- the Air India bombing -- and more than a decade after 9/11, the best this government has been able to come up with is $10 million to fund academics to study what we already know? Recently the Ontario government announced that it is reducing OHIP fees by 50 per cent in situations where self-referral has occurred. The government has good reason to be interested in this issue, but cutting fees for self-referral isn't the answer.
Tim Knight: Part 3: Who Is Queen Elizabeth?
Recent polls show four out of five Britons respect her, support her and want their country to remain a monarchy. To many, she's one of the last living symbols of British wartime valour, and the embodiment of the nation's resolute defiance of German bombers during the Blitz.
