Sir Clement Freud.

Sir Clement Freud, grandson of psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud, had a holiday home in Praia da Luz, in Portugal.

In July 2007, Clement Freud helped the parents of missing child Madeleine McCann by cooking them dinners in Praia da Luz and offering them drinks.

Initially when he wrote to them offering assistance they thought it was a hoax. (Clement Freud - Wikipedia)

Sir Clement Freud's son Matthew Freud is married to Elisabeth Murdoch, daughter of Rupert Murdoch.

Matthew Freud is head of Freud Communications, an international public relations firm in the United Kingdom.

Matthew Freud is a member of the 'Chipping Norton set' along with David Cameron, Christopher Shale (recently found dead) and Rebekah Brooks.

David Wilson, the chairman of the public relations agency Bell Pottinger, handles Rebekah Brook's press inquiries.

David Wilson was on the PR team aiding Madeleine McCann's parents.

On Saturday 2 July, "Rebekah Brooks was a guest at an all-night party hosted by PR boss Matthew Freud and his wife, Murdoch's daughter Elisabeth, at their Cotswolds mansion, Burford Priory."

In attendance were the BBC director general, Mark Thompson, BBC reporter Robert Peston, Peter Mandelson, former Foreign Secretary David Miliband, and the education secretary, Michael Gove. (Rebekah Brooks's arrest came as a surprise despite fortnight of bad press)

Via Mediaite. In fairness, that’s not necessarily her opinion: She’s citing a survey of the group’s members in which 74.1 percent said “yes” or “maybe” to the question of whether the House needs a new Speaker. For a full-throated “Boehner must go” cry from a TP leader, you’ll have to turn to Tea Party Nation chief Judson Phillips instead. Quote: “We need a Speaker who is a leader. We need someone with courage and vision. Boehner has none of those qualities.” And yet, today’s tea-party rally on the Hill was small; tea-party heroes like Allen West and (maybe) Mike Pence are rallying the freshmen to Boehner’s side; and even stalwart Paul Broun — who called for lowering the debt ceiling to reduce spending — dismisses the idea that Boehner’s speakership is in danger. What happened to tea power? Has it simply been overwhelmed in this case by fears over hitting the ceiling?

Or does John McCormack’s “underpants gnome” reading of their negotiating strategy explain it?

Underpants Gnome debt plan:
Phase 1: Defeat Boehner;
Phase 2: ???;
Phase 3: Cut, Cap, Balance!

Yeah, I’m confused by Phase 2 also. What’s the scenario by which Barack Obama and Harry Reid magically become fiscal conservatives and lead the Democrats to adopt CCB? The thinking, I assume, is that if we hit the ceiling and the economy tanks, the left will have a panic attack and agree to pass CCB simply because it’s the only thing, supposedly, that can pass the House. But that assumes Democrats will agree to anything to raise the ceiling. They won’t. If you disagree, why not add the repeal of ObamaCare to the list of GOP demands? Why not add the privatization of Social Security? I hate to intrude with a bit of bracing political reality but Obama and Reid have to appease their base too. Giving the tea party everything it wants is the opposite of that, for which they’d pay a terrible electoral price. And since this fiasco is, after all, about nothing more than electoral politics on the Democratic side, that makes CCB an instant nonstarter.

But, just to play this thought out, let’s say we hit the ceiling without a deal. Supposedly the pressure would now be on Senate Democrats to pass CCB to end the crisis. How does Reid get out of that jam? Pretty easily, actually: He could “cave” to the GOP by belatedly agreeing to Boehner’s bill, which would shift the pressure to end the crisis back to House Republicans to approve their own leader’s plan. Better yet, he could propose some sort of joint bill merging his plan and Boehner’s (which wouldn’t be hard) and then let the liberal media go to work in selling his “statesmanlike compromise” versus the House GOP’s “hardline” position. But wait, you say, this only proves that Boehner never should have offered a bill! If he’d stuck by CCB as the only option — which, per the above, would all but guarantee hitting the ceiling — there wouldn’t be any squishy Republican plan for Reid to exploit after the deadline. In that case, the Democrats would have turned around and offered a new plan (they’d call it “The People’s Plan” or something similarly tedious) incorporating a few trillion in cuts a la Reid’s current bill plus a few hundred billion in new revenues. Scoff if you like, but Obama’s endless droning about a “balanced” approach does have traction in the polls: Remember this recent eye-popper from Gallup showing that just 26 percent of Republicans favor a cuts-only approach? Once they did that, all they’d have to do is dig in, push their position as the “reasonable” one that does the people’s bidding, and then wait for public/market panic to pressure the GOP into compromising with them on some scaled-down Reid/Boehner cuts-only approach that can grudgingly pass both houses.

The only glimmer of hope CCB has right now, I think, would be if S&P declared, as a matter of absolute certainty, that passage of either the Reid or Boehner plan will result in a downgrade of U.S. securities whereas passage of CCB will let America stay AAA. They’re not going to do that, though, partly because I suspect they don’t want to spook world markets any more than is necessary and partly because it may turn out that no one cares, which would be a huge blow to their prestige. In fact, as Veronique de Rugy points out, for a group of people who are supposedly so worried about a downgrade, Obama and Congress sure haven’t done much with entitlements to make sure we avert it. Their plan/hope, I think, is simply to do something modest now and trust that S&P doesn’t have the stones to actually downgrade the United States. And if it does, then Boehner’s short-term two-phase will be optimally timed to force that issue: We’ll have to revisit this issue early next year, with an election impending, and now with an AA rating tossed in the mix to, shall we say, concentrate the mind. I’d like to think Democrats would want to immediately revisit the debt in the wake of an AA even if Boehner’s bill doesn’t pass, but hey — they’re Democrats.

I’ll leave you with Keith Hennessy’s rundown of the latest version of Boehner’s bill, of which he says, “Without too much trouble you can see the conceptual outline of ‘Cut, Cap, and Balance’ within this bill.” Here’s the clip; note the answer to the question of whether tea partiers are inadvertently helping Obama get reelected.

Tea Party Patriots chief: Boehner should go

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports is reporting that the New Orleans Saints and Miami Dolphins have agreed to a trade involving Reggie Bush. The trade, however, is contingent upon Bush accepting a re-negotiated contract with the Dolphins. Here's Glazer's tweet:

I'm reporting the Saints and Fins have worked out terms of a trade for RB Reggie Bush, contingent on Bush agreeing to a new contract w Fins...Bush's agent Joel Segal negotiating w Dolphins tonight. It also hinges upon Bush taking deal and not deciding to stick w NO at reduced rate

Glazer is usually right about these things so I would think this is close to being a done deal. But if that wasn't enough, Jeff Darlington of the Miami Herald confirms the report and adds a few more details:

Source has confirmed, even at this late hour, that Dolphins are indeed working on a trade for Reggie Bush.

GM Jeff Ireland spent much of night working on Bush trade, but has chosen to sleep on terms & make decision in morning.

For now, Ireland is still grinding away at the office, I'm told. He hasn't gone to sleep -- still hammering out details of Bush acquistion.

I'd say this is a good deal all around; well played by Mickey Loomis. The Saints get out of Reggie's contract while still getting value for him and the Dolphins get...Reggie Bush? Who knows, it might be interesting to see him used in the Wildcat. Also good news is the fact that Reggie would not be going to an NFC team.

If this trade is confirmed in the morning, then I wish Reggie the best of luck. It's been a good run and I'll miss the great debates you've caused for years in Who Dat Nation.

The only question remaining: who or what would the Saints be getting!?!? I don't think I'll be able to sleep tonight!

Justin Bieber: Month off Then Back to Career - Photo Courtesy Walmart Soundcheck.
Justin Bieber told The Hollywood Reporter on July 20, 2011 that he's taking a month off to have a normal summer. He's got the insight to know he had to.

Time off for a job well done is what Canadian pop singer Justin Bieber is being rewarded with as the 17-year-old singer told the Hollywood Reporter on July 20, 2011 that he needs down time to do what kids his age normally do with a summer. And why not? Since beginning his journey to success he's worked tirelessly and traveled a long way in a short time.

So it is that he told HR that of late he has been busy doing something else - taking a month off. And is always the case with the singer from Stratford, Ont., he has great insights into what's going on around him and what he needs to do to process it and enjoy it all.

"It's been great to just think and enjoy hanging out with my friends," he said. "I'm still growing up, and when you're working every day, you don't really get a chance to figure out who you are. So with the time off, I'm able to think, pray and just kind of grow up."

Justin Bieber: Never Say Never

Since he and mother Patti Mallette appeared on a Canadian daytime TV show together - clips are in his documentary - called Full Circle when he was a small, pretty shy 14-year-old and talked to the hosts about their plan to go to the U.S. and work with Usher to create a career for Justin, they have done just that.

And how. As of this writing his numbers on Famecount, an internet site that tracks social media, are massive. He has 11,202,251 Twitter followers, 33,394,537 Facebook Fans and 1,772,766,081 Youtube Views (yes, that's 1.7 billion). He's got the sixth highest total of Facebook fans on the planet and is second to Lady Gaga and a spot ahead of President Barack Obama in Twitter followers. Master Bieber is top of the heap in Youtube Views.

Further, he's toured the world multiple times, recorded albums with stars, had Justin Bieber: Never Say Never become a huge hit, had pajamas and other clothing come out with his picture on them, singing dolls, books and a fragrance, 'Someday' currently outselling established perfumes by a large margin. He has also won dozens of music awards in the U.S., Canada, Europe, Brazil, the U.K. and in other countries.

So time off to recharge the batteries - he said he's been sleeping a lot - is deserved and needed. But already he's talking about the work he has upon his return, about the new album he's working on and songwriting. It's been since March of 2010 since he's come out with an entire album of new material and after his break look for him to get back into the studio and start laying down some tracks.

He'll also return to the talk show circuit and touring and to continuing to contribute to charities like 'Pencils for Promise', the 'Make a Wish Foundation' and those devoted to anti-bullying and to getting the message out that texting and driving is a dumb idea.

In other words, after a little R&R, Justin Bieber is gonna get back to being Justin Bieber.

Selena Gomez celebrated her 19th birthday on Friday by spending time with boyfriend Justin Bieber, reading his sweet Twitter messages, hitting up a donut shop and Disneyland, followed by a romantic dinner. She may still love to have fun at the most magical place on earth but, with the recent release of the August issue of Elle Mexico, it's obvious this one-time Disney starlet is very much all grown up. So, is she getting too mature for her teeny-bopper, pop sensation boyfriend, Justin Bieber?

Gomez fronts the magazine looking pretty and sophisticated; her hair in lush curls and her makeup nude and smoldering. She may be all covered up in a long-sleeved Altazurra number, complete with a wide-brim Scala Pronto hat and gold Gucci belt with tassels, but the image of the Monte Carlo actress translates as incredibly sexy... and much older than her newly 19 years.

File:Selena Gomez 2009.jpgElle Mexico calls Selena Gomez "La Chica del Momento" (Girl of the Moment), and the glossy couldn't be more right in that declaration. Of course, it doesn't hurt that she's dating "El Chico del Momento" Justin Bieber who, although only 17, definitely has shown he can keep up with an older woman.

Selena Gomez would be way out of the league of a typical 17-year-old, but fame and fortune has apparently matured the Biebs (and Gomez). They still seem to make a perfectly adorable couple, and they both can definitely share and understand the pressures of being the girl and boy of the moment -- and what a very long moment it is.

The rapper backtracks after saying Justin will soon be forgotten...

10:19, Sunday, 24 July 2011

Vanilla Ice has defended recent comments he made about Justin Bieber where he predicted the 17-year-old star would go off the rails and wouldn't have a long career.

The Ice Ice Baby star said: "My prediction about Bieber is that he’s going to go through one of those weekends that lasts a few years because he’s had such success as a child act. You know, then something else new will come along and he’ll be forgotten and he can try to put all the pieces back together, so it’s going to be entertaining to watch."

Not surprisingly, his comments kicked off a furore among Bieber fans, so much so that the rapper has spoken out to clarify his remarks, but stopped short of apologising to the U Smile teenager.

"I think the whole story is that [I'm] badmouthing Justin Bieber. That's just not true," Vanilla Ice insisted. "I'm friends with him and I've hung out with him. I know his parents, they're very nice.

"I don't think he's going to be forgotten," he continued. "I don't think he's going to be forgotten at all. In fact, I think he'll be remembered forever. I wish him all the best. I wasn't trying to say anything bad about anybody. I never badmouth him at all.

"I don't have any reason to hate anybody; I believe in good karma and spreading good energy."
